Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of The KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel.

There will be a full waste management system in place around the course which includes a Re-Turn scheme where you can return your plastic bottles and will have the opportunity to donate to two charities, Breast Cancer Research Ireland and Special Olympics Ireland. The event will be the first sporting event in Ireland to have this scheme in place.

Sustainability is a major priority at the Championship involving initiatives in areas such as Waste Management, Energy Management, Reducing Green House Gas emissions relating to the tournament.

The tournament is being organised as per the guidelines outlined in the International Sustainability Standard ISO 20121.

Some of the improvement projects completed for this tournament include

  • Reducing waste

  • Improved segregation of waste (Recycling/Reuse and Composting)

  • Return Station

  • Reduced requirement for mobile Generators

  • Habitat Protection

We encourage people to carpool if possible, to help reduce emissions.
